The Duong Thuong Assembly Hall was built in 1741 with money contributed by the traders of five Chinese counties (Fukien, Zhao Zhou, Canton, Hainan and Jiain) to worship goddess Holy Mother Thien Hau. This hall used to be a place for their countrymen to meet and help one another to do business. There was a stone stele called “Duong Thuong Rules” which stated 10 principles for the Chinese immigrants to do business in Hoi An town.

Zhao Zhou (Chaozhou – Trieu Chau) Assembly Hall was built in 1845 by the overseas Chinese of Zhao Zhou county to serve the community and religious activities of the Zhao Zhou people in Hoi An. The assembly hall is used to worship gods, who control the winds and waves. They shall help the local people travel safely on the sea. The assembly hall has sophisticated carved wooden frames, beautiful ceramic reliefs and wooden altars with different decorative designs following folk legends.

The Hainan Assembly Hall was built in 1875 by the overseas Chinese of Hainan County, who resided in Hoi An to serve the community and religious activities of the Hainan and Jiain people in Hoi An. This assembly hall is used to worship 108 Chinese merchants, who were unjustly killed, because they were mistaken for pirates. Later they were vindicated and named “deities” by King Tu Duc, who granted money to build this assembly hall to worship them forever
